Don't understand the hate. This was FUN

It's a great B movie and not mean't to be taken seriously. Ernie Hudson and Tim Curry stole the show in this flick. The gorillas looked pretty cool and were intense at times. This movie gets bagged on way too much. I remember when KB toys had the action figures for this movie.

You guys should see the marathon I did for this movie titled When Monsters Roam Free. You can check it out on my blog.

Precisely, it's a great B movie and it's not meant to be taken seriously. I mean that should be obvious with the whole stop eating my sesame cake scene. Lord Almighty, even the late Roger Ebert liked this movie. 

When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness.

Heck yeah. The cast just looks like they're having a ball.

Can't stop the signal.

I loved this movie when it first came out. I was pretty young and intrigued with the white gorillas.

As am adult I have rewatched. And while The effects are sub part as is the acting. I still love it and think it is a lot of fun.

I actually just started Crichton ' s novel. I am ashamed it has taken me so long to pick up Congo. I loved Jurassic Park and The Lost World. I have heard from many people that the novel is much better than the film. I shall see!

This is one of the better "lost city in the jungle" movies there is. The cheese factor is substantial, but this is such a fun and gorgeous adventure movie.

Couldn't agree with you more! I've always enjoyed this movie. It's great as a lounge movie. The singing of California Dreamin' is thee best!

reply

Agreed. Ernie Hudson stole the show but the rest of the cast were great too - Tim Curry, the sesame cake guy and even Claude from Mombasa.

reply

Not the greatest movie by any stretch...but it's entertaining(and funny), and highly re-watchable.

reply

I really enjoyed it, but I have a penchant for movies with 'lost cities' themes.

reply

because people were expecting another epic Jurassic Park level joy ride

the intro is awesome.
agree that Curry is amazing in this.

I haven't seen this movie in AGES, but remember always feeling the same. It's FUN, including Hudson and Curry's hammy performances, monsters are scary, and it's a just plain entertaining adventure flick. I should revisit it.
