Did anyone find Mazelli funny?

For me, the way he displays his racism is just plain entertaining and hilarious. Several scenes, including when he tells Rocco, "It's the sensation accross the nation" (in reference to a violent ghetto video game), to sneer at blacks, and the scene in the elevator when Rocco says, "Everyone wants to be gangsta" (to also mock blacks, though the unsuspecting boy, Tyrone, didn't know that), I found this character hilarious. I'm sure it wasn't intended to be this way, but this racist is a bit more funnier than other racists which make me just angry watching

Yep, even as a black woman, I had to laugh. But then I am one of the rare blacks that see racism as a reflection of the person spewing it rather than taking it personally and literally. So ya I did find it funny.
Don't forget this was directed by Spike Lee (who is famous for being black and making intelligent black movies that are actually social statements. So I trust his use of white on black racism.

Ma'am, you kinda forgot to put the other parentesis. Just saying :D

Anyways, but Mazelli isn't like other racists. He just acts black, obviously to make fun of them, in a way that's funny.

Yes thank you for policing my one punctuation mistake. It's so horrible not being perfect (eye roll). I don't understand what motivates you chronic internet spelling/punctuation police. In reality you understood perfectly well what I was saying and self admittedly understood it was an unintentional error. Your correction was completely unnecessary and makes you and others like you look like petty sh!t pickers.
I can gracefully read a comment by someone who's English/spelling is terrible, look past it to actually comprehend what they are saying because that is way more interesting than turning their comment into a grade 4 grammar lesson.
Please, really take the time to look inward and try to figure out why you compulsively turn into a grammar nazi, then try to curtail it because no one appreciates it.

I was just pointing it out in a nice way.

And I don't see why you say Nazi like it's a bad thing. The Nazis were far better people than the segregationists in America (who still discriminate to this day).

What about Grammer Redneck? As the Nazis were a hell of a lot better than those redneck segregationists.

reply

Nazi's and American slave owners are on par. And if you think nazi's were good or ok, you are seriously morally corrupt, or you didn't make it to high school OR open a book to learn about the horrors they committed.
If you came to Germany now (which is where I'm writing to you from), you would get the sh!t kicked out of you for praising Hitler. That is a shameful part of our past and is seen as a horror.
Just like if you went to a more intelligent or diverse part of the US and started telling everyone that slavery was good.

And there is NO polite way to correct people's grammar. It's rude. Why don't you try and be a bigger person and try to understand what people are saying rather than how it's being said. When you are speaking with an immigrant who's English isn't very good, do you stop them to correct them every third word and ignore what they are saying? You sound ignorant enough to do that.
Well, as a German, where English is 3rd behind High German and French, thank God When I come to Canada as I do frequently, the Anglos there don't do that to me, but then Canadians are known as superior to Americans around the world and are welcomed whereas travelling Americans are despised, made fun of and not trusted when they come to Europe. We just use you as our pitbull when absolutely necessary.
There, a little reality check for you, an ignorant, hate filled American. If you love Hitler so much, get a swasticka tattooed to your forehead you dolt.

reply

Haha, trust me in Germany you get your ass kicked for being a redneck more than a Nazi. Klansman and Nazis aren't the same, and if you really believe they are, you are clearly an airhead.

The Klan was about Judeo-Protestant, Nordic supremacy at the expense of other races. lmao

The Nazis were about German pride, combined with an alliance with Italy and Japan. They hated Jews, Protestants. And they hated white people, so much that whites were probably targeted the most. So you're wrong lmao

They're not the same. Typical lack of education showing here.

reply

Omg. You're a racist dolt. Go away. Blocked.

"...but can you Americans speak any other language besides English?"-Inglorious Basterds

reply

You're a dumb airhead.
lol

Yes I don't like white folks that much if that's what you mean by racist. And I really am starting to believe you're really white, and not black.

I mean no true black person acts this snobby and arrogant.

Your missing the bigger picture. This is a Spike Lee movie (you may have to look up who he is because you come across as a bit simple) so in actuality he is either making fun of Mazelli or is illustrating the ignorance of people like him. If your using his behaviour as an outlet for your own racism than you are misguided. I doubt you are seeing the BIG PICTURE of this film and I doubt you are even able to due to your limited intellect.

Im going to avoid all that before this... But in reference to the topic at hand, i think Det. Jo-Jo is the better example. He talks with a lot of slang, tries scaring the white kids from Connecticut asking if they ever saw a "16inch Tar Baby" and "If i toss this car and find drugs ima throw you in a cage with 12 baboons that'll be calling you Mary all night"... He also asks Strike if he can dunk a basketball, " Cmon, you been slamming before you were crawling" or something like that... Anyways, the point is he is making fun of black people but he obviously wants to BE black... That's kind of how i viewed his character. You know what i mean?? He makes it seem as if he's cool and all that but he's just as racist as the next guy. Spike is really good at writing those characters. He straddles that line between envy and hatred...
