Does Jeunet have a thing about water?

I've just finished watching this film, and I've seen Delicatessen a couple of times.

Have you noticed that both of these films are just SATURATED from start to finish? Water dripping, gushing, flooding, everywhere! It must make it very difficult to film, and uncomfortable for the actors. But it makes for some interesting visuals.

On the Delicatessen DVD they explain how they did the bathroom scene. They didn't have enough water to fill the whole room, so they kept lowering the ceiling & walls to make it look like the room was filling up. Actually it was only about 3' deep! (freezing cold, nonetheless) You're right, it's tough to film but what an effect.

There was a big flooding/underwater scene in Alien Ressurection also. And Amelie had that crazy scene where she melts into a puddle all over the cafe floor. Yep, I'd say Jeunet has a water thing going on.

Same thing with Alien: Resurrection. Plus a long diving scene.

I guess he is a water lover, it's almost the same thing about Rob Zombie who has a thing for white trash when it comes to directors and their obesessions with certain things.

This is a really interesting fun fact about the bathroom scene. Was it on the commentary? I would like to search the interweb for it.
