What was the first Christmas gift?

A TIE!

Greatest Christmas joke ever.

reply

A tie - funny.

But I was thinking it was the gift of letting Mary & Joseph use the stables.

The first Christmas gift was a child. Our Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ was our gift from God on Christmas.

"For God so loved the world that He sent His only
begotten Son."

reply

True.

But I look at it this way: if the manager of the inn had not given Mary and Joseph access to the stable for the night then the baby Jesus could not have been born in safety and comfort.

So (technically) the first Christmas gift was kindness: access to the manger.

It was not Christmas until Christ was born. So anything that happened before that event does not matter.

The first gift of Christmas was love according to the book the movie is based on. Also, I believe it's a true story.

reply

Yes, the first Christmas gift was love. It was love for humanity that caused God to make Mary the mother of His Son. Without this perfect love, there would have been no reason for them to need the stable in the first place. Here is a quote from the book (from one of the letters the main character read):

And this because of the great gift of Christmas. Because He came. The first Christmas offering from a Parent to His children, because He loved them and wanted them back again.

reply

I knew it was a child all along. Jesus' birth.
