Such a great plot, while others would say its cliche horror, I would challenge them to find a horror movie like it. Not to mention its setting. I think it was filmed somewhere in Lazio, right?

shareI actually just saw this movie a few months ago....and I automatically expected crap as soon as I saw the cover. But I was pleasantly surprised and I can see why it won an award for "Best Straight to Video Release" in 1995-6. Def. worth the 9.99 price to buy this movie! And yes....some parts are so freakin nasty!

shareThis was a surprisingly good movie with a quality story and strong characters. In the special features, Jeffrey Combs refers to it as more of a character piece, and I agree. The mirroring in the story that concerns Jeffrey Combs' character is also very well done (that statement was purposely obscure in case some people here haven't seen this yet!).

It's probably the best movie Full Moon ever released. It is actually one of my favorite Stuart Gordon films, as well. I think his top three are probably Re-Animator, Castle Freak, and From Beyond.
It's also amazing Full Moon didn't bastardize Castle Freak by making a bunch of sequels.

shareGreat movie indeed. I was actually very amused when I saw the Greek title "To frikio tou kastrou" because I was sure it translates to "The Castrated Freak", but I checked and it's actually "Freak of the Castle".
