Poor sequel

Candyman 2 is just not up to the task of being on par with the first movie. They show too much of Candyman and he actually becomes literally existing in this film where as in the original you're not sure if he exist or not. The atmosphere is not menacing at all, it's not creepy, or remotely scary. The setting of New Orleans wasn't a bad idea but it doesn't have the era of menace Cabrini Green had in the original film. The actors are good but the script and execution let them down.

Well of course they weren't going to keep Candyman ambiguous, we find out in the original that he is in fact real. There's a lot of evidence to this.

If it was all in Helen's head, who was keeping the baby alive while she was in the hospital all that time? How did she murder Dr. Burke when she was in restraints and how did she get out of those restraints?

Also, towards the end we see that Jake sees the Candyman burning in the fire, Helen comes back as a ghost just like Candyman and murders Trevor after he calls her name five times in the mirror, and I'm pretty sure it's hinted that Helen is a reincarnation of Caroline Sullivan which is why the Candyman was in love with her.
