Since Helen was killed at the end of Candyman to carry on Candyman's legacy, why wasn't Helen the killer in this movie?

Candyman was based on Clive Barker's The Forbidden story, Farewell to the flesh was just a simple sequel to the first they just decided to focus on Candyman's origin.

I get that the original was based on a Clive Barker story & the sequel was a stand alone. But it would have been interesting to have the 2nd start where the original left off, that's all. Although I LOVE Tony Todd's voice as Candyman. Very creepy!

I always assumed that Helen became her own legend, not a replacement of Candyman.

Same. Like Bloody Mary, Helen and Candyman are all legends can be summoned by mocking them in the mirror.


