What's with the low rating?

5.6???? I'd give it at least an 8! I thought it was a really clever spoof!

The low rating is from people who have forgotten what entertainment is all about.
God forbid you don't come back with some deeper meaning with a movie instead of a good laugh and a chance to forget what a mess the world really is for the hour.

The low votes probably came from people like me who saw this movie but weren't terribly familiar with the TV series. There were a lot of "inside jokes" in this one.

Also, much of the humor fell back on contrasting the saccharine-sweet Brady family with the degeneracy of nineties culture. The plot itself wasn't particularly interesting.

I thought everyone was familiar with the Brady Bunch? i give it an 8.

I also give it a 8.

I wonder why people would see a movie based on a TV show they were not familiar with. Then proceeded to rate it low because they didn't get the inside jokes? That is sort of sad for the producers and cast etc.

Personally, I would watch some of the series first so I would appreciate it more but that's just me. I wouldn't then give it a low rating just because I didn't find it funny based on not knowing the reasons for said humor.

It is obviously a spoof and spoofs are meant to spoof something we have seen and enjoyed. Therefore causing us to laugh at what we know. If we can't laugh at what we know, then what can we laugh at? Certainly not at a spoof of a show we don't know. (Oh Mike why?)

Lastly, based on the cover alone, why would it be surprising that the plot wasn't going to be all that interesting?

No personal offense towards the poster - He was speculating and I understand!

you know i hate to admit it, but after re-watching this movie i have to agree. the bad ratings, i believe, are partly due to the slew of television adaptations that flooded the theaters around the time of its release. and while relatively plotless, the modern setting did allow for the ever-delightful michael mckean to carry some adequate sight gags. perfectly cast, mindless entertainment. an 8.

5.6 is a pretty high rating considereing. I mean, this movie was not the best, but I enjoyed it.

Usually low ratings go to movies that aren't good. For example, this movie. An 8 is for like Oscar winning movies. I think anywhere from a 5 to a 6 is fine.

"Everything they do is so dramatic and flamboyant. It just makes me want to set myself on fire."

You know I love the movie. It was clever, surprisingly hilarious, and faithful to the Brady Bunch, what more could you want and expect?

"Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop & look around once in awhile, you could miss it." F.B.

People who rate here don't know $hit about good movies. Check right now, see how well total crap like Gone in 60 Seconds, Coyote Ugly, and Starsky & Hutch rate! I'll bet all those movies have higher ratings - for no good reason!

Starsky and Hutch was great though.
