I've always thought that the cops who ask Eddie about his keys should have been Ponch & Jon look-alikes (or even Erik Estrada & Larry Wilcox!).
That would have been another nice nod to the 70's. :)

That would've been neato, however they did cameo in National Lampoon's Loaded Weapon 1. Their cameo in that film was pretty hilarious.
shareAgree they were great in the mostly good Loaded Weapon* So they were clearly up for that sort of role, and you could presumably have rewritten them to be another part of the world that in inexplicably stuck-in-the-70s, and it would have worked.
* It's gonna take more than a few car bombs to keep us off this case!
