Did she kill him???

Did Drew's character actually kill that guy???Can somebody tell me the end!!!

reply

technically. he died supposedly from her hitting him with the bat.

reply

I thought he died cause he smacked his head when he was trying to get around while he was tied up.

I think it was a combination. She hit him hard and he was bleeding when they tied him up. He tried to get the phone but fell in the mess bumping his head again. Once he could'be survived but two hits to the head took him out.

Nick gets out of the chair while the phone is ringing, stands up to grab the phone, says, "My head!" and then collapses. It's pretty clear he died of the head injury he received when he was hit with the bat.

A lot of people survive a crack in the skull & bleeding even after being hit hard there, even with no medical aid. He certainly didn't seem to be dying when the girls tied him up and he still had enough strength to break lose with brute force. I think it was just really bad luck to trip over and smash into the same spot on the back of his head. The pain might have made him pass out and hitting the ground further reopened the wound. He then may have later gone into a coma, died of blood loss.
But there is no way to prove this in court as there were no witnesses and it certainly looked like the baseball bat was the murder weapon.

As a lawyer, I can add a legal perspective. Holly wouldn't be guilty of murder because she didn't intend to kill him, but of some lesser offense (I don't remember what charge it was she accepted in the plea bargain - I seem to recall involuntary manslaughter). In any case, Holly intentionally took an action (hitting him with a baseball bat) which eventually led to his death or was a substantial contributing factor, so I have no doubt she was guilty. Of course, the film doesn't go into the point about whether the other two are guilty of something as well (they are clearly accessories-after-the-fact who assisted her in evading justice). Clearly, they SHOULD have called an ambulance and also the police. Their failure to call an ambulance meant his injuries were not attended to. Even if they had called an ambulance and he had still died, Holly would have been criminally responsible. The question that is being discussed her is causation - what actually caused the death. Well, it is not entirely clear in the film, although I expect that in an actual murder trial the prosecution would bring in a medical expert to say that a hard smack on the head with a bat could very well (or in fact did) case the death. Or the coroner may have made such a determination during the autopsy. That wasn't the focus of the film, so they didn't go into it.
