I haven't watched the movie, or re-read the story, because it was too disturbing the first time. That dad is the most horrible person EVER. He sacrificed his son. When the little boy is crying to sleep with him, and he makes him go to his own room, knowing the monster will eat him, I cried. I was SO SO happy with the ending...I hope the monster ate him sloooowly.

I hated the dad as well. if I were the mom, I would have aken my son and made that bastard husband of mine sleep in there.

Well, it's kind of about a father's subconscious feelings towards his children. You're supposed to despise the father because the Boogeyman is symbolic of his true feelings.
That aside, I kept picturing the closet in the room my brothers and I shared in our old house as I read this story and I still believe it to be one of King's scariest and most disturbing.
I accidentally downloaded some crappy version of Boogeyman that I thought was this.
