Just finished watching this movie .. .

Its excellent! And to make matters even better I finally managed to find it in the original Tamil version.

What an intense film. I was expecting it to be really over the top emotionally and full of fanatical flag waving patriotism, but Mani Ratnam got the balance just right. The emotions and actions of both sides were realistically portrayed, the stupidity of some and the terror of others . . . And all the while this gorgeous couple carry on their lives, loving and living as best they can. Arvind Swamy and Manisha Koirala were both perfect in their roles, and those two little boys, wow, such mature performances for two young boys.

I cant recommend this film enough, 10/10
