Why did Van Damme turn this movie down?

It would of probably helped the film and his career.... instead he decides to film Street Fighter. Bleh.

reply

because he probably thought that making a sequel will ruin the movie series, and besides Van Damme acted as Frank Dux in Bloosport I and Bloodsport II had a complete different story line.

reply

van damme was sued by frank dux or something and so van damme is not allowed to use frank dux's name for another bloodsport movie which is probably why Van Damme's new idea for a movie "Kumite" will probably not come out, since he can't use the character Frank Dux. Actually the idea for Kumite has been around for like 3 or 4 years and i even saw a movie poster of it once but I haven't heard anything about it since.

It doesn't have anything to do with the storyline (they would have just changed the story to fit Van Damme in) or any legal issue with Frank Dux, the fact is Van Damme received the biggest paycheck of his entire career for the crapfest that was Street Fighter. It was also his peak in salary, it has declined ever since.

He also got to bang kylie minogue while filming Street Fighter,i know it is wrong but damn how could he refuse?

The frank dux character is sadly a real person who enjoys blowing his horn about events that probably never happened. As for van damme being sued by frank dux, that's for the movie "the quest" which was supposed to initially be a sequel/prequel to bloodsport but ended up being something entirely different after van damme locked dux out of the writing process due to how unreasonable he was being.

Actually, the real story behind this was that a company that made this film got the rights to the name bloodsport from cannon international in 1996 after they were going down the drain. Using the name "bloodsport" they attempted to connect it to the original movie by using a single character and a plot device of "stealing a katana." The subsequent sequels were used to cash in on the name. The fourth film in the series is particularly interesting as it stars the same star of the second and third but as a different character entirely.

In the end, they couldn't get van damme because they actually didn't attempt persuing him. This is an incredibly small company that instead tried to find someone who looked and "acted" (if you can call it that) like van damme. Hell, for the most part that's daniel bernhardt's career.

This may be years later but they told van damm he couldn't do the movie as im watching something about him right now on tv (never seen it) and he was just talking about this and that they said he wasn't going to star in it because i think he was to old

I think that is wrong and he should have stared in it
