Bloodsport 2 Vs. Kickboxer 2?

The sequels to two of Van Damme's best films, featuring two guys who'd never live up to JCVD in the long run (and I don't mean that as a knock; I think Sasha and Daniel are both very talented). Which one was better and why?

reply

the Kickboxer series is better, why? Because i said So! lol

reply

I prefer Kickboxer 2! Because i like and remember the series better than Bloodsport (except the first movie, taht i of course remember).
I also think it has a better bad guy!

Prostitute: What the *beep* are you doing?
Johnny: I'm gonna kill a bunch of people.

BS2 by far. It's more entertaining. Better fights, I prefer the storyline and bs2 seems more adventurous.

BS2 has more fights, KB2 a better atmosphere, more blood and the better villain.
Daniel Bernhardt is a better martial artist (with years of training), Sasha Mitchell (who learnt MA for KB2) has more charisma and is a better (more experienced) actor.

reply

I agree with that actually.
Kb2 does have better atmosphere and villain(don't care about the blood).

I just prefer bs2 mainly cos it's "fun" with many of it's fight scenes and doesn't take itself too seriously.

reply

I like KB2's (mainly) serious tone ... ;)

BloodSport 2 can blow away all the Kickboxer sequels without trying !!

Does anyone wonder can "Cody" Sasha Mitchell, can he really even fight ? The moves he does are so weak looking. At least with Daniel Berndhart, the guy knows "real martial arts", I don't believe he needs a stuntman very much; which should be a safe assumption.

Yeah but ask yourself this. Can Sasha Mitchell even fight or does Duane The Rock Johnson's people's elbow even count as a move in Kickboxer 4 ?

I mean he looks sooooooooooooo beyond stupid doing Karate; makes Danial Son look like a 8th degree black belt by just sanding the floor.

I prefer the Bloodsport sequel. Daniel Bernhardt is leagues better than Sasha Mitchell as a fighter. The story was very weak in both, but then again who looks at the story in movies like this, although if it is good, its a bonus.

The fights were much better in Bloodsport 2 and I don't agree with the poster who said Mitchell is more charismatic than Bernhardt. If anything, Mitchell carries a bit too much of his Cody character into the Kickboxer sequels and thus makes it hard to take him seriously though the fight in the diner in Kickboxer 4 was pretty good.

Anyway, the only area Kickboxer 2 was better in was the villain. Tong Po made a much better villain then Demon.

Having said all that, I'm not really a big fan of either sequel. I like them both, but don't love them like I do the originals.

Very good. But brick not hit back!
