So this is a hipster film?

Someone said this is a hipster cult film. I didn't realize that but I did notice Billy's work boots - is that where this came from or started to come from?

What hump? 

This is not a "hipster" movie. Just straight up classic sandler. I'm sick of people labeling everything as hipster

reply

If you were young when this came out you quoted it nonstop. It is creepy now but sandler lost his touch after the nineties.

Same thing happened with Jim Carrey. Once the new millennium hit, they didn't put out anything great. Each may have had a couple okay movies afterwards, but nothing with the spirit of those old ones.

For both Adam, and Jim Carrey I'd say 2003 was their last movies which felt like their 90s classics (Anger Management, and Bruce Almighty). The 90s vibe was pretty strong for at least the first half of the 00s, so that makes sense. For Sandler, even Click and Chuck & Larry in '06 might've been his last pretty good movies.

I guess even Sandler and Carey grew up.

I mentioned this in another thread but the unlaced work boots thing was a popular look in the northeast back in the 80's early 90's. I grew up there during that time and everyone wore unlaced Timberlands, it was a "cool" look for high school and college kids. And that was way before the whole "hipster" thing.

reply

Yep I'm in the Pacific NW and it was big here too back in the 90's
