Any Burmese people...?

Hi, I have just discovered this movie. I am half Burmese and was wondering if there were any Burmese people who have seen the film and could advise me as whether it is worth the watch? The only other film to do with Burma (that wasn't a documentary like Burma VJ) I have seen is Rambo and needless to say I was left just saddened that they spent the whole film showing innocent Burmese people being raped and murdered with no message to speak of at all.

I want to watch Beyond Rangoon anyway but given how hard it will be to find it would be good to know if it is worth it with a Burmese perspective given how these kind of films can be a bit lacking at times and insensitive to the subset of people involved after being buttered by hollywood...

Thanks.

Hi

I think it's worth a watch. I don't think it will leave you sad like the other ones. PM me if you still can't find a copy to watch :)

There was a late 50's film called "The Purple Plain", starring Gregory Peck and I believe Win Min Than set in Burma in WW2. Pops up on TV now and again.
