Script development

As I wacthed this film, I had an idea of how it came to be. Originally, the script was for a fairly serious drama about racism and tolerance. Some producer sort of liked the script, but decided it didn't have enough kung-fu fights and explosions, and also he figured that a serious drama about racism and tolerance wouldn't sell. So, they re-wrote the script to include a martial arts guy beating up on the bad guys with cool looking kicks and crap like that. They also decided to make it part of the already existing "Best of the Best" movie franchise in an attempt to draw more movie-goers.
