It’s not a reboot. Within the context of Batman Forever and Batman and Robin both of the Burton films occurred.
shareThis was back in the day when they didn't make a big deal over reboots or creating alternative universes and causing all round confusion. I mean the original James Bond series was meant to share the same continuity despite the main character being recast several times. Just nowadays when a recast occurs they have to "reboot" it all the time.
Glad they didn't recast Michael Gough as Alfred Pennyworth. James Gordon I am not too fussed about as he didn't do anything in the original Batman series and wasn't memorable.
Funny you bring up James Bond cause I never felt like Bond films had continuity. He's always with a different woman every movie and even the missions he goes on in one movie aren't ever mentioned in the next. Nothing that happens each movie is ever referenced. It's like this even in the original Sean Connery ones. I know people insist there is continuity but I never felt like they were that connected. Heck, you don't have to watch Dr. No to understand Goldfinger, Diamonds are forever, or From Russia with Love. Heck, you aren't missing much if you skip one of those.
