Was Batman Forever (1995) one of the biggest missed opportunities in Hollywood?

There is no question that Batman Forever (1995) is not only a terrible Batman movie, it's a terrible movie period. But I think the saddest thing about Batman Foreveris that there is a good movie stuck in the film somewhere and that the film had serious potential to possibly be the live-action adaption of the Batman to date had Warners Bros./Joel Schumacher had not had their heads in their asses and just ignored all the ridiculous backlash Batman Returns (1992)had gotten from crying mothers and crying little kids and continued making darker and really serious Batman movies. Tim Burton indeed was wrong for Batman, but's it not for the same reasons that Warners Bros. and dumb soccer moms thought he was wrong for Batman.

Fans wanted a returning Burton and Keaton.

This is your opinion. It has plenty of fans and was highly successful.

Burton's Batman (89) despite it's flaws define the super hero movie as we know it.
