Balto (by far my favorite)
101 Dalmatians
Bolt
Airbud (the original)
All Dogs Go to Heaven
Marley & Me (possibly the saddest animal movie of all time)
Homeward Bound (an absolute classic)
My Dog Skip (also incredibly sad)

I am such a sucker for animal movies ...

Several people have mentioned The Plague Dogs. I assure you that's far sadder.

I love Balto, obviously. Another favourite is K9 with James Belushi. I quite enjoyed Beverly Hills Chihuahua - I wasn't keen on seeing it originally as I expected it to be very childish, but once I found out there was an Alsatian in it I had to watch it (they're my favourite breed). I was pleasantly surprised - it is aimed at kids, but it's not too juvenile. Also White Fang, though it deviates quite a lot from the book.
