Why did Fouchet kill Max?

Why did he kill her? I mean she did nothing to him. Why did he kill her?

reply

If I remember correctly it was because he didn't want her to be a witness after he killed Eddie Dominguez.

reply

But he killed her before he killed Eddie.

reply

But he was going to kill Eddie either way (for stealing his dope). He just got her out of the way first.

reply

That's stupid.. He could have just asked her to get the hell out there, after all she was just a hooker? For a guy who wanted to keep a low profile after a high profile heist, he was taking pretty loud and unnecessary steps...

My job is to watch stupid movies and complain about them on IMDB

Before you tell me my points are stupid, you might want to learn the difference between a statement and a question.

And the true stupidity is that you actually believe a career criminal would allow a witness to leave--whatever her profession--the scene of a soon-to-be murder. Stupid.

I wasn't calling your point stupid, I was calling the direction of the movie stupid.. Sorry for the confusion, I wasn't clear enough.

Now when you have insulted me back, I hope you are feeling better, getting it off your chest. Anyway, a career criminal capable of pulling off a job like that would know that killing two people in broad daylight will bring a lot of heat, specially when one of victim was his comrade in crime, ex cop and the insider job. Not to forget he wanted to keep a low profile.

No body died and said he had to execute Eddie on the spot. Max wasn't a witness of anything. She was a hooker on a call. He could have asked her to get the hell out of there. Took Eddie to some isolated place and execute him there and buried his body, never to be found. Even if it was found, max wouldn't have known anything about it, because, well, she didn't even know Eddie. The entire act contradicts with Fouchet's character at one hand being the genius, pulling off a job like that, the perfect plan, being calculative and cunning while doing something so stupid.

Max's murder was just a plot device to make it a little personal for Mike and bring Julie and the bad boys together. But if you believe in your theory, who am I to tell you otherwise?

They were secluded in a home. A mansion. A gated mansion. It probably wasn't until they started shooting at Julie (making the place look like "Beirut" with all the firepower), that neighbors alerted the police, if neighbors even alerted the police.

She was a hooker on a call. He could have asked her to get the hell out of there.

She still could have alerted the police if she sensed something bad was going to happen, which wasn't hard to see.

Max's murder was just a plot device to make it a little personal for Mike and bring Julie and the bad boys together.

Agree with you there.

Seasonal is correct. A living witness will come back to put you behind bars or the electric chair. It's just that simple...

reply

You're all so hooked on Eddie being killed, that you forget the heroin. She had seen a *beep* load of heroin being brought in, so already there, you have a witness who maybe would contact the police after leaving. And as you know, she had seen the faces of the whole gang. Even if Fouchet doubted that she would contact the authorities, he wasn't really a kind of guy who took any chances.

All these voices in my head, and not a single one I understand.

reply

He says (rather quickly and with a deep French accent) to Eddie "You know that hookers talk!" Or something to that effect so even though he clearly didn't know her connections' depth, he tied up a loose end.

reply

Ok let's just say Fouchet let's Max go....You can see how scared she is as she tries to play it off by introducing herself. She sees how pissed off Fouchet is because he sees that Eddie has stolen some of his heroin. She knows something's about to go down. Once she leaves, she is GOING to the cops no doubt. Fouchet takes Eddie off somewhere, shoots him, buries him...BUT...Not 1, but TWO(Max and Julie) witnesses have seen the dope and will report it, which the cops are looking for so they will be able to identify who was at the scene. Only problem I had with this scene is that I wondered why they didnt take the bodies with them and buried them.

reply

Fouchet was nuts. He wanted to kill everything he laid eyes on.

reply

She was a witness to what he was about to do to the guy who ripped him off.

reply

Do we still consider Fouchet a cold blooded killer?

reply

Umm... yeah?

reply

If only they would have let her go and she went to tell Will Smith what they all look like and he just goes to the club and arrest them.

reply

it was to show that he was cold blooded killer. he didn't care who he killed.
and he didn't want her to see the drugs

reply

Remember the whole setup was a favor to Mike who asked Max to do some digging. As a prime drug dealer, Fouchet is an expert at reading character, and he sensed that Max would become a major liability.
