Something About Watson Brewer

Why did Watson call himself Kristy's father when Kristy was upset about something? I remember in part of the movie, Kristy was shouting about something and ended it with, "Leave me alone!" Watson replied, "I'm not going to leave you alone because I am your father and-" then Kristy shouted, "You are NOT my father!" From what I know, Watson was Kristy's stepfather. Her parents divorced and both remarried.

"Tsuppari is my former name."

reply

That's not weird. Kristy's father had completely bailed on the family years ago and barely contacted them. When Watson married her mother, he took on all the roles as a father would.

reply

Nah, that is kind of weird. It would make sense if Watson was there from day one but he had technically married Kristy's mom that year (or according to the ageless gap that is the BSC continuity)

reply

In the books, Kristy thought of Watson as her father more so than Patrick. Rightfully so because Patrick was a lousy father.

reply

He really was like a father to her. If it wasn't for her real father secretly re-entering her life shortly before this argument, she wouldn't have said the "you're not my father" thing. She only said it because the circumstances had her seeing things that way.

reply

Watson really is a father to her, because her biological father was hardly in her life.
