Didn't like it

It just seemed too much like a children's/family friendly movie for me to enjoy. Maybe I'm getting old.

Or maybe you don't have any kids. I'm serious, usually people who have their own kids enjoy watching these films with them. Is it not subliminal enough for you?

reply

Its actually an adult's movie that fun for children also. There's about a dozen complex themes and references that only adults will recognize if they watch it closely enough, but if you expect to watch it as a children's movie only, then you won't see them...

Its your loss, not ours... I'm just saying.

Roger Ebert was commenting, I think, on a "family/kids" movie and was questioned about whether adults would like it. He said something to the effect that "a good movie is a good movie". I'm way old and love many "kids' movies": Babe, Happy Feet, Up, Secret Garden. Finding Nemo for a short list. For what it's worth, I still laugh out loud at Road Runner cartoons. I can't think of a well-written kid's movie that wouldn't appeal to ad adult. Certainly, there are some crap straight-to-CD movies that aren't worth the time, but who couldn't appreciate Babe? Oh, the OP couldn't.

I think it's very sad to become too sophisticated for a great "kid's" movie. It's either a good movie or it isn't.

It has nothing to do with age or whether or not a person has children. I was 35 when the film came out, I loved it. I did not have my first child until five years later. I'm fifty now and I watched tonight with my children, not for the first time, and loved it just as much.

I think anyone who does not appreciate it should probably know that before they even watch it. What would make you watch it in the first place ?

You were 35 in 1995 but only 50 in 2014?

reply

See what happens when you get old !

Correction: I was thirty-two when it came out, thirty seven when my first child was born, and I am now 51. My kids are thirteen, seven, and twenty-three. What??? Make that three.

OP doesn't like the same movies as me, therefore he's a bad person.

reply

I agree with you, this movie sucks.
