can you recommend it, ar fans??

could someone give me an objektive opinion to this film? i really like alan rickman, but some of his films really creep me out. dark harbour for instance: you may say "ooh, she missed the point: too young, so a pleb", but i just thought it was rather boring and the end was not very clear (not gonna spoil it!). I've heard rather frightening reports about this: just look at topics bellow!
So: can an alan rickman fan maybe let me know if I would like this film? please don't spoil it, and say "see it for him"- i like ar, but the story should have some consistency...

question is: how old are you?

some scenes might be disturbing if you are let's say, a 14 year old Harry Potter/Severu Snape fan... (no offence, I love Harry Potter films and I'm 26...)

I saw the film for Hugh GRANT and didn't know Rickman was in it, but I love him and know him before Grant and I did enjoy the film.

THIS IS A GOOD FILM!!

it's very strange, the atmosphere is quite bleak but it makes the film very special.
it's a good description of the post Wold War II theatre universe and a good depicture of english society of the time.

As for the actors they are all great!
Grant is the vilain, the anti- floppy hair Notting Hill Hugh and he's opposed to Alan Rickman who is very dashing! I thought he was very attractive in Sense and Sensibility, but I have to say he's even more nice to look at in this film.

He's is one of the main character, it's difficult to say he's the main one coz' all the characters have a heavy weight in the plot.
The film is also a tragedy, it's not a film to watch to cheer you up but it's definitely worth seeing it if you love Rickman, but it's also nice to watch for the whole film.

And please don't care about the silly posts on the board, it's complete nonsense!

Hope I helped.

cheer!

Yes, it's a masterpiece, based on a quite chilling book which I read afterward. Reminded me of Alfred Hitchcock and 30s - 40s noir. But be warned, it is deeply terrifying... evil wins out over good, chaos over love. The movie that actually turned me on to AR. And reminds me to respect Hugh Grant even after all the American trash he's contributed to. As well as a sharp insight into Mike Newell.

Let me put it this way - Alan Rickman was the only (really) good part of this film.
