Anyone read the book?

Is it any good?
I really liked the film although it was quite hard to get into.
Is it worth getting?
I'm just asking because I think it's quite hard to get hold over here so I don't want to trouble tracking down the book as well as the film if it's not great..

You should try looking in your local library. Found it in mine unintentionally one day but I didn't read it.

Ok I've read it now.
If anyone is reading this post (which I doubt..) and hasn't read the book then you should!
It is amazing.
Beryl Bainbridge is an amazing author!

Because I'd already seen the film I knew the story line, and the way she writes is amazing, so subtly hinting at things, it makes complete sense once you know the ending!

Post when you do, if possible. I read it after seeing the movie. It was a great book, very well written. Much easier to understand after the film though.
