If you watch films just for the possablity of nudity, why not just watch porn... You'll never be dissappointed?
This film offers much more then nudity, and it should be respected as such.
Open a thread with the word penis or nudity or piss and you will have a full mailbox.
This is a strange film. I found Mark Rylance a total putz - his accent and his delivery is mournful, like a yokel preacher in the outback. One can only wonder why he is in this film.
Patsy Kensit is just as boring and can't act.
The film is saved by Kristin Scott-Thomas - as so often happens with this talented actress - & Douglas Henshall.
Here is acting, both so watchable, one can't take ones eyes off them. All understated.
The film is worth seeing for them.
OMG. I really thought I was only one who couldn't STAND Mark Rylance's voice..I almost stopped watching the film, it was so weak and insipid and repulsive..but maybe that's the point. Eugenia's appearance was considered SO beautiful and a great catch that as Edgar said despicably, you don't see anything.
He was supposed to come across as ordinary but educated and worldly in the literal way, so blinded by her looks and fragility.
I was totally gripped by KST and DH's scene stealing acting also. But Patsy Kensit was popular at the time so,you know, demographics and all that.
the erection issue is blown out of proportion, he is not fully erect, though he is not fully flaccid either. i think it might have been more offensive if an actor with a less modest penis was nude. it actually adds quite a lot of depth and reality to the scene, you would expect a man to still be atleast semi-erect just moments after he has withdrawn from sex anyway.
