The Father...

Was a really good man trying his best for his wife and his children. He really tried...

It's so sad that he didn't recognize his daughter's illness. Time and time again, he left them alone, not realizing they needed CLOSE supervision and in depth communication, waaay past, "What do you want to eat?" "What do you want to do for fun?"

Dealing with their mother was a lot for him to handle and he was stretched thin emotionally and over-looked their crisis.

When people have to deal closely with the mentally ill, THEY NEED TREATMENT TOO! To be "de-briefed" if you will. Especially young children - if they see the illness 24/7 from birth, they don't know any different and can take on the same behaviors.

Anyhew, he seemed like a good man and a father who tried.

I agree; this movie got so real in some parts that I felt I was watching a docudrama.
