Raccoon death scene

Today is one of those days where I've been flashing back to my little kid years and I all of a suddenly remembered the scene where Ace was trying to hold on to his little raccoon sidekick and he finally slips and dies. I was only around 7 years old and I started bawling and crying. My mom asked me what was wrong and I told her about what I watched. She of course told me it was only a movie and the raccoon was probably falling was probably just a green screen affect.

I decided to watch it again today and it still made me cry even though I'm 20 years old and I'll be 21 in November. I heard that the scene is actually a parody of the movie "Cliffhanger". I'm infamous for watching some really disturbing and horrific horror films like "A Serbian Film" and "The Human Centipede 2" but yet this scene from a Jim Carrey comedy movie bothers me. I really can't find the scene funny even though I like Jim Carrey and the special effect does look pretty bad of the raccoon falling. I mean it's a cute little raccoon falling to its death. "COMEDY GOLD!"
