Re-Shooting in this movie...

Ok did anyone else notice that they obviously re-shot and or did some scenes in this movie long after it had been made? I honestly don't see how anyone could miss them. Like the two morning scenes, when their grandfather does his tests on them when they first wake up. Both Max (colt) and Micheal (rocky) are much older lol!!! So I'm guessing they did these scenes even after Max had finished filming Kick Back...cause he looked even older in these additional scenes in Knuckle Up then he did in Kick Back!

Yeah you're right. Apparently there were some legal issues or something like that so they had to halt production on Knuckle Up and start Kick Back.

If you look closely in that scene you were talking about, as well as the scene where Rocky and Tum Tum are in that fight scene with the Juke Box ("Does it matter, you can't count past one anyway"), you can see that Michael Treanor has braces.

So it's social! Demented and sad, but social!

You can definitly tell in that scene that his voice has changed too, plus, in the beginning Max is taller than Mike and in the end Mike and much taller than Max. It looks like he's gone through puberty during the movie.

Sadly the whole movie has little mistakes all over the place, but hey, after the first seven times I saw it I got over them

reply

You're right sccrbob08 !! When they dance (and Jo is looking at them) you can see that Max is definitly taller than Michael.

reply

hecky yea, especially in the jukebox scene. rocky has braces! plenty of reshots

reply

he also has different shoes. i also noticed he sounded more manly. that could just be a sound thing though.

Yeah, I was just coming on here to mention that. I haven't watched this movie in like 3 or 4 years and today I just had a DVD movie marathon with all 4 movies(including that HORRIBLE disgrace called High Noon at Mega Mountain), and I noticed they aged so much throughout the movie. I noticed Michael Treanor had a drastic growth spurt over time and braces during the karaoke/fight scene(possibly the last scene filmed?). The voices changed too.

But I didn't know Max had finished Kick Back and went straight back to Knuckle Up. I don't know, let me watch the two DVDs again and see if he looks as old as he does in Knuckle Up.

its funny because "Knuckle Up" seems like it was filmed before "Kick Back" but in everything i read "Kick Back" came out first

reply

Knuckle was formed before Kick Back. It was filmed right after the first movie was released, but released after Kick Back due to legal issues.

I reshot this movie in my back yard with my two year old cousin and three year old sister. And trust me, its better than this.

What were the legal issues?

Dr. Peter Venkman: NOBODY steps on a church in my town.

reply

it was a crime to release this apparently

3 Ninjas was released by Touchstone, which is owned by Disney. During production and/or filming of Knuckle Up, Disney changed their mind on the project and Tristar decided to pick it up. Supposedly, one of the "legal issues" was regarding who owned Knuckle Up, who/if/when it could be released, etc. That's one of the reason why it's so obvious that some of the scenes were filmed later *and* why the movie was on the shelf for a while.

Yeah, that actually makes a heck of a lot more sense now as to why they replaced a few of the actors in the second sequel. It looks as though 3 Ninjas Knuckle Up IS actually considered the second installation instead of the third hence why the actors decided to reprise their original roles.

What a shame, 3 Ninjas Kick Back (1994) was the last of the 3 Ninjas franchise to actually have a major theatrical release, as opposed to this one which was only shown in 52 theaters in the entire U.S. and pretty much went straight-to-video.

Rocky's temper is hilarious. During the fight At the pizza parlor, one of the guys inadvertently bumps into Rocky while he's playing a video game. Rocky pushes the guy down not even aware of his brothers being in a fight. He does seem a bit temperamental but geez who knows what could've happened in different circumstances.
