Would you recommend this show to Blackadder fans?

I am a HUGE Blackadder fan (as well as Fawlty Towers), and was looking for more British shows to get obsessed with, and since I think Rowan Atkinson is hilarious, I was wondering if this show is any good because it seems to be really popular.
So, would this be another kind of Blackadder-ish show just set in a police station???

thanks!

if there are any other British shows that are good also please recommend them too!

Definately, I would reccomend it. It has much the same wittyness that BA has.

No, because I don't think it's even half as witty or intelligent, plus Rowan plays a more 'conservative' character in this - he leaves the funnier stuff to his co-stars...

I'm gonna take this itty-bitty site by storm... I'm just gettin' warm.

I disagree! Yes his co-stars are funny but I think Rowan Atkinson's character is equally hilarious. He comes out with some of the funniest one-liners!

As for recommending the series to BA fans, I would most certainly recommend it to anyone! Yes its different from BA, but its equally (if not more) funny.

I think most people who loved Blackadder would love Thin Blue Line. But as people have pointed out, Rowan Atkinson's character is very different, but I wouldn't say less funny.

Blackadder, because of his insults and sarcasm, make him instantly funny, whereas in the Thin Blue Line I think you have to get to know the character of Raymond to appreciate how funny he is. And to be fair, he does have quite a few Blackadder-ish lines and insults - usually directed towards Inspector Grim.

Constable Goody is like George from Blackadder, only times 10!!

Habib is a great character. She is the normal one (in a sense, SHE is the blackadder, although she's not mean). So she often pokes fun at all the others, especially Raymond (Rowan).

Thin Blue Line, in my opinion, has a wider range of characters than BlackAdder, and because of this is takes longer to adapt to the humour of the show, because it requires getting to know the individuals.

But the writing is just as clever, witty, and silly as Blackadder... if not more so.

Could they have had a Blackadder set in a.police station?

If you love British comedy, then its a safe bet that you'll enjoy the show. Very different to Blackadder, its more an homage to another UK classic "Dad's Army".

It is claimed that Ben Elton is a great Dad's Army fan & you can see it's influence on a number of characters.

Personally I found the first season to be very good however in season 2 the double entendres really picked up (as only the Brits can do) & the show became hilarious.

Cheers.
