Should the finale have involved the second caretaker?

I just started rewatching this show recently and just watched the episode with the second caretaker. I found it really strange that the pilot would mention a second caretaker and make it seem like a major plot point only for the episode where they meet her to be a one-off - not even a two-parter! The episode in question even recaps the pilot and makes this seem like a big deal only to have it forgotten by the next episode. The whole point of mentioning a second caretaker in the pilot seemed to be to set up a potential finale or at least a major story arc. I can't help but think that had bigger plans for her initially.

Simply put yes. Personally I'd like it if the female caretaker was involved in the finale (ideally an older version though), to make it all come together.

I haven't watched all the seasons yet. But yes, your complaint seems to be a consensus complaint about Voyager.

I think it would be too predictable. I didn't care about the caretakers, and by the end I forgot about them so I don't mind the female one not being in the finale.

The problem is, if the female caretaker was fully cooperative the series would've ended right then and there with her sending them home. By the end of season 7 - bearing in mind she's not omniscient - how would she even know where to find them? Having her suddenly show up out of nowhere in Borg territory would make no sense. At least future Janeway had reasons to be seeking them out.
