Favorite Episode?

I was just rewatching this show in S-VHS and it really was a great series. Great writing and characters - in most of the episodes, anyway.

I can't decide if I like Ray Butts or the Angriest Angel better. Tell Our Moms We Done Our Best was great, too.

Who monitors the birds. Lots of Chigs, lots of fights.

I'm rewatching it at episode 15 Never no More. By far my favorite episode has been "Who monitors the Birds." The only episode I've rated as a 10 for the series. Most of the others have been between 6-8.

reply

Totally 'The Angriest Angel.' I mean, McQueen just rocks period. He had some way awesome lines in every episode, but my favs come from 'The Angriest Angel.'

reply

Is who monitors the birds the one with the new chig mind weapon? I really enjoyed that one.

reply

WMTB is the one where Hawkes gets to play sniper.

The one with the mind weapon is "The Enemy."

reply

Absolutely "The Angriest Angel"!

reply

Agree 100%.

"The Angriest Angel" is my favorite hour of TV EVER. I've gotten through some bad times re-watching that ep and reciting McQueen's dialogue out-loud.

"Ray Butts" is my second favorite episode. Johnny Cash is GOD. Johnny Cash in a Sci-Fi war show? Brilliant.

Nice use of Patsy Cline n "Never No More".

Oh and the final episode "Tell Our Moms we Did Our Best" is brilliant and now after all these years (and I'm no longer bitter how FOX sabatuged the show) it now works as a "war is tragic and never ending" - thematic ending for the series.

Paul's heroic death always brings me to tears. I love how he shouts out "This is for...." and names all the marines who died throughout the series.

All in all a great show. Even the earlier weak episodes are better then most people claim. At least they didn't waste scream time showing AI's boinkin' ALA Galactica reboot. (Which was Space: AAB with sex)

Sure you can nitpick the having Marines who fly and fight on foot, Hawkes long hair early on etc. It was still ahead of it's time and would have been a hit today IMO.

"The Angriest Angel" is my favorite episode without a doubt!

Angriest Angel. Definitely my fav.
Tell Our Moms..... also another fav, Wang Paul's heroic last stand is excellent especially considering he's purposely made out to be the weaker of the group.

The Gunslinger smiled. "On the way to the Dark Tower," he said, "anything is possible."

reply

I love "The Enemy." Although it is a rehash of the same "We are not ourselves" theme, I love what it does to the characters-deepens our knowledge of their fears. This episode made me laugh- perhaps I am sadistic- but I never get tired of this episode.

I also love "The Angriest Angel" and "Ray Butts."

Angriest Angel - best episode of any TV series ever made.

reply

Who Monitors the Birds, followed very closely by Angriest Angel.

I agree with you, it's between Ray Butts, The Angriest Angel and Tell Our Moms We Done Our Best.

Anyone else get a feeling Fox pulled this because the dodgy company calling the shots was a little too close to home?

reply

Angriest Angel By far the best. The insight into the Colnoels mind is awsome, what he thinks of himself, ect.
