Similarities with G Gundam **SPOILER ALERT - YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!!!**

Here are some striking similarities between "Space: Above and Beyond" and "Mobile Fighter G Gundam." After binge-watching both series, I came up with the following:

1. The "Shuffle Alliance" and the "Wildcards" squadron use the playing card motif for their teams.

2. The main hero, Nathan West, has the codename "King of Hearts," just like Domon Kasshu.

3. The main heroine, Shane Vansen, has a name of similar sound to Rain Mikamura.

4. Nathan and Shane have a close relationship reminiscent of Domon and Rain.

5. The secondary hero, Cooper Hawkes, has the same childhood background as Chibodee Crocket as well as a codename under the "Spades" symbol. Chibodee grew up in the slums of New York City while Cooper did so in the slums of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

6. There is a Chinese-American Marine Corps officer by the name of Paul Wang, which can be considered an equivalent of Sai Saici, Neo China's Gundam Fighter.

7. Vanessa Damphousse, the secondary heroine, has psychic powers, which can be considered similar to Allenby Beardsley's "Berserker Mode."

8. There is a tense rivalry between the 2 heroes of both series: Nathan is loggerheads with Cooper as Domon is loggerheads with Chibodee.

9. The same air of rivalry can be found between the heroines of both series: Shane is the main rival to Vanessa as Rain is the main rival to Allenby.

10. There is familial tension within the Kasshu and the West households. For example, Nathan did not want his younger brother Neil joining the Marine Corps, but Neil did so anyway, which left Nathan rather angry at him; Domon blames his older brother Kyoji for stealing the family's secret project, the Ultimate Gundam, which was then corrupted into the Devil Gundam.
