Time for a Reboot!

So it is now 17 years on since this series aired. Damn.

Firefly is gone, Terra Nova canceled like many Sci fi fox series.

Could a Space AB be rebooted?
Could they set the story as 17 years of progression?
A new alien race? Old foes now new allies or a vassal state?
Could they mirror it on today's war's in the middle east. We the occupiers facing radicalism by the aliens with those just trying to survive?

This seemed like such a cool series... I wish something more would be done with it.

I agree. I would love to have it done again. or just restarted, with the same characters (different actors of course) but just start it up again. I remember loving this show. I was 15 at the time, and it was when this got cancelled that my Dad gave me the name of "Kiss of Death"... meaning that if I loved a show it was doomed to get cancelled.

Creative, different shows never last. The networks are too greedy, some people done't have the intelligence to watch a series, and some people just can't give a show the chance to warm up with the storyline (not every show starts off with a bang... it needs time to develop)

I miss my shows... what is there to watch taht is actual scifi (not syfy)?

I think it would be interesting to take these scripts and redo them with better actors and higher production values.

There is a show in pre-production right now called "incursion" which sounds like it's an updated version of SA:AB.

Hey, I check it out after seen your post and it looks pretty cool. It looks exactly like SAAB actually, to a point that it bothers me that the creator didn't address it (as of yet). But, well, BSG creators often said how Starbuck was the first "female kick ass pilot" so I shouldn't be surprised... lol

Looks real good, thanks for the tip!

Found commentary on it on Starz; sounds more 'bug hunt' than dogfight action...but still.

Why can't you wretched prey creatures understand that the Universe doesn't owe you anything!?

It was already rebooted. It's called Battestar Galactica. Which I like save for Ron Moore's overextended character development crapfest.

Humans are slow to pick up so here's a puppet show.

II.Major Cast:

1. Nicholas Hoult (“Mad Max: Fury Road,” “Warm Bodies,” “Equals”) = 1st Lt Nathan West

2. Lily Collins (“Mirror, Mirror,” “Love, Rosie,” “The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones”) = 1st Lt/Captain Shane Vansen

22. Nina Dobrev (“The Vampire Diaries”) = 1st Lt Kelly Winslow

III. Differences from the original series:

1. The deepened focus on the relationship between Nathan West and Shane Vansen - Outside of their duties as members within the “Wildcards” of the 58th US Marine Corps space fighter squadron, Nathan and Shane fall in love. This is triggered due to both of them having lost significant others whom they thought had been devoted to their whole lives - Nathan to Kylen Celina as Shane to John Oakes. This side story is inspired by the relationships between the following couples:

- Domon Kasshu & Rain Mikamura (“G Gundam”)

- Hikaru Ichijo & Misa Hayase (“Macross”)

- Kira Yamato & Lacus Clyne (“Gundam SEED”)

- Susumu Kodai & Yuki Mori (“Yamato”)

2. “If not just with weapons, conquer their minds with manipulation” - Besides military hardware (e.g. F/A-18 Hornet fighter-bombers, Hammerhead space jet fighters, the USS Saratoga battle carrier, basic infantry weapons), the “Wildcards” also start a band of their own. They use rock music to manipulate the minds of Chigs and Silicates. Their musical genre focus is on Alternative, Classic, Nu-Metal, and New Wave Rock to name a few.
