Is Kari Wuhrer a porn star or something?

She's pretty, but that's about it, she can't act her way out of a paper bag, and she's always posing like she's in porn. Really frustrated by replacing John Rhys-Davies who is a really good actor by her. It's like a whole different show since the episode exodus.

edit: I'm watching season 4 now, and she's gone way better and more likable in it though.

This was a great idea that went downhill for lack of imagination on what parallel earths could be like. When they sacked John that was the last straw. Sad such great potential was flushed down the toilet of incompetency and idiocy.

Fox really hated this show. And I don't really know why considering it had good ratings.

Egos and personality clashes.

Imagine you're a person who likes *beep* cliche tv shows, or think making a show really cliche/full of tropes will make it more successful.

Now imagine you're a network executive.

That's how good shows get meddled with/cancelled. Studio/network execs are people too.

Let me back up before I delve into this. If you recall, the stipulations of Sliders’ third season included the move to Los Angeles and a new team of FOX-Approved Yes Men, who’d be there to stop Tracy Tormé from ignoring network interference. FOX wanted action. They wanted Sex. They wanted Adventure and Intrigue. They wanted 90210 mixed with The X-Files (the ones with the big ratings, not those pesky cerebral ones).

Basically, they wanted Silk Stalkings mixed with Beauty and the Beast (the TV show). So why not call in the Executive Producer of both of those shows? Silk Stalkings… hey, man, I don’t know. I’m too young for that nonsense— but I remember its existence being …prevalent to say the least. I don’t think I ever watched it, but I have distinct memories of its constant presence, that feeling of “this is on again?” Beauty & The Beast, though: there’s some television. I don’t know. It’s better Television to strive for than Silk Stalkings.

But honestly, if you’re a show on FOX in the mid-90s, shouldn’t you be trying as hard as humanly possible to be The X-Files? I mean, in 1996/1997, The X-Files is pretty much at it’s absolute peak of popularity. One year off from a mother fucking feature film? Man, that show is still great. But it’s still in Vancouver. I mean, just saying. Moving to Los Angeles kind of kills The X-Files, too. But that’s neither here nor there.

Season 1 had a specific order. Fox aired the episodes out of order. Then, they delayed the second season for a year, and interfered with a 5 episode plotline involving Wade, Quinn, and that extra guy who slid with them, forcing him to be written off with a single line.

By season 3, Fox forced the show to move from Vancouver to LA so they could more effectively meddle, and creator/showrunner Tracy Torme was tired of fighting and quit since his father's health was declining. So, Fox brought in a company hack to run the show, who decided every episode had to be a rip-off of whatever movie was #1 at the box office that week, and he was the one who let them kill The Professor because, as you said, he pissed off a Fox exec at a party.

They brought in Kari Wuhrer to provide jiggling titties and little else, and the season 3 finale was going to lead to a Fox season 4 which was Quinn and Maggie only providing "a look at the multiverse through the eyes of love".

Thankfully, they canceled the show instead.

Sci-Fi, whose parent company Universal owned the show, picked it up. Then, they decided "Kromaggs! Kromaggs all the time!", and things just... well, it wasn't good. And, since the executive hack decided he didn't like Sabrina Lloyd, they left Wade in a rape camp, because that's how you write beloved characters off. They did redeem Maggie in the Sci-Fi seasons, though, giving her an actual character beyond "bitchy eye candy".

They made her Sam Beckett's niece, too.

Oh, and Sliders was still worth it when it was canceled.

jiggling titties lol

She was in some softcore porn before Sliders actually.

Not surprising. I think the most irritating thing about her is she tries to hard to be sexy. As if the huge implants aren't enough, she constantly grabs them. No wonder this show failed. Sex doesn't sell in this case. It was great until she was added and the main story line was Kromags.

reply

The first thing I ever saw her on was Remote Control, a fun game show on MTV.

She might be a C-class actress, but she's reliable at least, like all those "direct to DVD action movie" actors which all has their little fandom, and the rest can also recognise as "hey, I saw that face in that production, didn't I?"

She was good in Sliders, and totally rocked Hellraiser: Deader. Ye, those two were probably the peak of her carrier, but I'll treasure them.

reply

Maggie is a horrible Character. She is so mean and annoying.

reply

Her casting downgraded the show imo.

reply

Pretty girl, but terrible actress.

I've always got the impression she probably "Knows people" and that's how she's got the roles she has. Not being a dick and saying she probably slept with folks to get there.............but yeah I'm generally suggesting it.

"Be the change you wish to see in the world"

I thought she brought a fresh twist to it. It was when Diane and Mallory joined the show that it tanked.

reply

I think by then the show had run it's course anyway.
