Time for another P&P

Who else would happily welcome another film adaptation of P&P? I love all the versions. The original 4-part mini-series was my favorite. Still, I think a better version of P&P is yet to come.

reply

I respectfully disagree, I think this is the best version of P&P that has ever been made, or is likely to be made. I've seen several other versions, and IMHO they range from mildly disappointing to objectionable.

Frankly, I wish the BBC, PBS, HBO, and every other possible outlet would just play this one every so often. Let the world see how it should be done!

Respectfully respect your opinion. This version is excellent. Still prefer the older mini-series to it. My least favorite is the Garson/Olivier film. That was silly. The Keira Knightley version is not the best either. Keira is pretty but did not convey Lizzie’s wit and charm. Malcolm was not dashing enough nor haughty enough as Darcy.

I never saw the zombies film. A sacrilege imo. Otherwise, I can watch this story told over and over. For now, I will re-read the book.

The book has been in print for over 200 years, so I'm confident it will still be there after I'm gone.

I can't claim to have seen every version ever made, but I have differences with them all - including the 1940s version with the miscast Greer Garson, and the painfully historically inaccurate one with Kiera Knightley and that poor McFadden guy who IMHO deserved better. And at least two TV versions that didn't leave much of an impression... and there's this version, the one that got it right. The Bennett family, Regency England, and of course.. Lizzie and Mr. Darcy incarnate.

I agree. This is the ultimate version. No need for another one.

reply

I also think that this is the ultimate version.
