*Spoilers* The Christmas Episode - Review for a Very Special Cartoon
The classic Grinch story that so many Christmas themes follow hits up an unforgettable cartoon from the 90's. "Pinky and the Brain: Christmas Wish" was a silent emmy-award winner during it's time.
We explore the common story that all Pinky & the Brain episodes have: Brain is on his normal routine of world domination while Pinky appears to be the comic relief. Throughout the episode, Pinky seems to be putting his heart into the Christmas spirit with constant rejection from The Brain. All he wants is his letter to Santa delivered to the North Pole.
Brain's new plan for controlling the human race is a holiday toy that hypnotizes families into obeying his every word and turning them into slaves. For once, his plan was actually on the road to success - he literally had the world in the palm of his hands.
Moments before speaking his slavery message to mankind, The Brain rips Pinky's "letter to Santa" violently from his hands and ends up glancing at what Pinky wouldn't stop talking about.
The message read:
"Dear Santa,
Hello! Ha ha, narf! This year, Santa, I ask for nothing. I wish to tell you about my dear friend, The Brain. He is honest and very hard working and only wants what's best for the world. But, he gets no reward. He's only greeted with defeat. He never gives up but I know it must be very hard.
So, please. Take anything that you have for me and give it to my best friend in the whole world - The Brain.
Love,
Pinky.
P.S.
By any chance, do you have, in that great big bag of yours - the world?"
After reading the message, The Brain feels overwhelming guilt, breaks down into tears, and uses his toy to wish all families in the world to have a Merry Christmas.
Even a comedy cartoon like Pinky & The Brain can create such a touching story. I've never really noticed how special it was until recently. This was such an excellent series.
