This was one of the best cartoons of my childhood.
So now that I'm an adult, I realized that they were both lab rats. That means Pinky was an ordinary mouse before. It's kind of sad to think that he's a failed experiment, and that scientists made him dumber.
Or pinky was a regular mouse and the brain was an experiment mouse that made him smarter. Mice aren't very smart and are more like pinky.

Insanity has oft been linked to perform the same task over and over and expecting different results.
