Interesting How Many Actors Disavow this Show!

Many now-famous actors got their start, at least in part, on "Night Stand" but now don't even list it among their credits. For example:

Hal Sparks-"Queer As Folk"; played the memorable "Father Chip," advocate of drive-thru confessionals.

Steve Valentine-"Crossing Jordan"; played the "Amazing Andy"

Ant-VH1 etc.; Played various flaming gay characters.

Probably could think of some more if I gave it time.

Popular radio personality Mancow Mueller also appeared on the show.

I remember Jennifer Lyons from the episode with the Montana militant compound.

Don't know if he disavowed it, but I remember Phil Hartman appearing as a German guy who's pulled onstage from the audience for some reason or other. Hartman was doing a "sounds like German but is probably just gibberish" thing... really funny!

Josef Cannon appeared as (Donald "X-Man" Fisher) in the episode "Atheletes As Role Models", he has now gone on to star in "Like Mike", "MaliBooty" and "America The Beautiful Movie"

reply

Phil Hartman embraced it...I think he was in the groundlings with Tim Stack; lots of celebrities did it including Cindy Williams, Jerry Springer...I was mostly getting at unknowns who have moved on to bigger things and don't list this show on their credits.

reply

I remember how excited I got when Father Chip said he was just at a Nine Inch Nails show across the street.

reply

A number of the people in the groundlings came on this show, probably as a favor to Tim, including Hartman, Lynne Stewart, John Paragon, etc.

There was a running joke about a "talk show rivalry" between Dick Dietrick and Jerry Springer. I remember Jerry Springer appearing on the series playing himself on a "cameo" appearance. Dietrick was doing a show and somehow ended up backstage. He saw Springer who was in the building for something else. He brought Springer on stage who played the confused "what's going on?" part well.

There was also an episode where Jerry Springer walked onto the stage as the payoff to a practical joke against "Dick" involving a transsexual and said that "we all ripped off Donahue" when "Dick" claimed that Jerry had ripped off the format of his show.

I don't see it in Florence Henderson's list of appearances, either. I seem to remember her being brilliant in it and really enjoying herself, so... what gives?

reply

I remember Carolyn Hennesey (sp?) on the show as the dentist who molested her sleeping patients. The guys in the studio audience seemed very...uh...interested.

reply

Had anyone explicitly distance themself from "Night Stand"?
