Ned + Stacey vs. Will + Grace

I just don't get it with all of the haters of Will & Grace over Ned & Stacey. True, Ned & Stacey was good, but Will & Grace is hilarious!!! Must be a reason why it stayed on air much longer than Ned & Stacey and TWO networks show reruns. All of the characters are talented and funny. Eric McCormack is SOOO sexy. Can't really find Ned & Stacey on DVD either. If it is, where? I figured you couldn't answer that!!!

ned and stacey was by no means a classic, however i still enjoyed it. will in grace sucked. it was boring, the characters annoyed me and the laughs were few and far between. ned n stacey win this battle quite easily

Will and Grace was pathetic. Ned and Stacey was good.

Yup, agreed. Will & Grace put me in a coma. Ned & Stacey had real bite that rivals Seinfeld in many ways.

I think Ned and Stacey was a victim of bad timing. Had it began airing a couple of years later (like Raymond), then I believe it would have had a more favorable schedule and more exposure. Will and Grace has nothing on this show. Thomas Haden Church is so underrated

You should look a bit better cause i bought Ned and Stacey season 1 at amazon.

Will And Grace was / is boring as hell the only good thing about the show was the rich woman. Jack was annyoing as hell and i just want to throw him of a cliff. Will was a moron and Grace was ugly in Will and Grace, in Ned and Stacey she look good.

lol @ bruinsfan. Well this is a Ned & Stacey board so the issue will likely be biased, plus people respond differently to material, therefore there will never be a consensus.

For me, Ned and Stacey is head and shoulders above Will and Grace. Will and Grace had some good laughs, but after awhile the characters were too over the top for me. I usually prefer a show that has a more subversive texture, otherwise I start seeing the characters as parodies rather than a real character to follow. Plus, even though I liked Debra Messing in N&S, she got annoying on Will and Grace (I think hats how they wanted her character). Actually, I always felt Eric McCormack overacted his part at times too, he was a little too aware of himself giving a performance. DOn't even mention Jack & Karen.

However, in N&S I would actually find myself bursting out with laughter. Not just from THC, but the supporting characters as Stacey's sister and brother in law were PERFECTLY cast. Not only was it funny, but they managed to do it with characters who felt real. With "Will and Grace" they never let you forget that Grace was manless, that Karen was a lush and Jack was a flaming homosexual, did we mention Karen was a lush and Jack was gay? Are u sure u understand how gay Jack is and how crazy Karen is? Let's hit you over the head with it..

"Will & Grace" was certainly a great, fanastically funny show, however, so was "Ned & Stacey" - though maybe not as "polished" ... but I think without N&S there never would've been a W&G. Debra Messing learnt her sitcom "craft" on N&S and W&G could never have worked if she'd been inexperienced.
I LOVED Ned & Stacey and would rate that higher than Will & Grace -- just my opinion. Jack and Karen became more and more high-profile as the show went on and I don't think ppl cared about W&G so much anymore. That certainly wasn't the case with N&S.
I agree with someone else's theory that it was a victim of bad timing - nothing more, nothing less. Could've easily gone on for a few more seasons but once the sexual tension b/w N&S was resolved, would've gone downhill from there ...

It's Ned Dorsey/Thomas Haden Church vs. Will and Grace, then factor in Rico and the rest of the cast if need be. No contest!
