Why did Sharon Rooney confess? (mild Spoiler)

I'm only on year 2, ep8, so if it is explained I will regret asking this but as early as episode one I think, she confessed to the double murder to Wyler, and he said something like 'that's the last time you ever say that', and now Carmine has confessed, and he seems a much more viable player, so, why did she say she did it?

If it's a boy, do you think it will look like Rodney? It doesn't matter as long as it's healthy!

Hey BJM,
Not much point in marking your post as a spoiler, when you put the spoiler in the subject line!

In answer to your question, the clue seems to be in her outburst in the courtroom, when she said she was guilty and should be punished, though what she was really referring to was her abortion (which she saw as a murder). She wanted to be punished, in fact, which is why she killed herself when she was acquitted.

This is all somewhat academic now, since I expect you've seen the rest of the show past the point of Carmine's confession and discovered who really was behind the murders.

You might very well think that. I couldn't possibly comment.

Quite right! I see the folly of putting the spoiler in the subject line. I didn't realise I'd done it. It won't happen again. AND - yes I realise who was behind the murders , it was, of course, .......... hah! not falling for that again!
