Would this have been a bit more successful if it was released today?

One of the reasons I heard that this TV series did not succeed is that due to the heavily serialized nature of the show, it had a hard time picking up new viewers because they would be lost if they missed an episode. In this age where you can easily stream and download episodes so you can easily catch up and follow, I think Murder One could have been more successful if this option was available for audiences.
