The Tick

Is it just me, or is The Maxx a purple and depressing version of The Tick? (or The Tick may be a Blue and upbeat version of The Maxxx...)

reply

No. The Maxx and The Tick are completely different series, and have no connections or even the same creators.

I was just pointing out the similarities; I know they aren't related.

reply

I dont really see any similarities between the Tick and the Maxx.

The Tick was inspired by a character called The Cockroach from the comic series, Cerebus the Aardvark by Dave Sim.

Well we can draw lines. The Tick could very well be related to the Red Scare, except you know, as the Tick so deftly points out; that's ridiculous he was red and the Tick is blue. So using the Tick's logic: There is no way that The Maxx and the Tick are related in anyway, after all, the Tick is Blue, and Maxx is purple.

What I wanna know is why I still occasionally see a Tick episode but never a Maxx one. Wth? Bring this show back, Mtv!

I think it's been more than 10 years since I've seen this show and I need my fix.

Love The Maxx and a fan of The Tick, I'll take a shot at this one.

The Maxx is a lost soul that in his early adventures finds meaning through is unusal acts of heroics in which he believes he is some type of superhero.
I think that the same comparsion can be made to the Tick who is some no name 'guy' who takes up a suit and defends the city with the innocence and courage that the Maxx has. Both make occasional striking comments about society while acting with the purity of a child.

Now, the tick doesn't go any deeper then that, but it is a light and fair comparison to the way they take up the mantle of superhero.

Read the comics. The Tick goes uber deeper than that. And by the way... what suit? Tick's not wearing any suit or costume.
