Other series with similiar animation to The Maxx?

I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for me? I love the visual aspects of The Maxx(I love everything else aswell of course^^) and would like to see more of the same! ...failing that I would be grateful for any tips about cartoons geared more towards adults, without it being anime.

I don't know of any, and I doubt you'd find anything. Sam Kieth has a very unique style... I don't think I've ever seen any work that looked like Sam Kieth's that turned out to be anything but his.

Sin city the movie is the closest thing i can think of to the Maxx series. But any of the Mike magnolia animated short movies remind me alot of Maxx also like the Hellboy animated movies and The Amazing Screw on Head. The animation in Invader Zim isnt too far off either.

they are making an animated movie that looks very dark based on neil gaimans novel Coraline, I read Coraline and it was a pretty dark book, who knows mabey its worth a look.

the best I can think of off the top of my head is Broken Saints.

Exactly, Broken Saints and The Maxx kinda have the same similarity in Animation.

There are three very abstract films by Ralph Bakshi which have the same tone and visual style of "The Maxx". They are:

Heavy Traffic

Wizards

American Pop (this is a masterpiece)

Not animation, but Amelie, has a similiar feeling and look of The Maxx

To me, its the closest thing to being similiar to The Maxx (Animated adaption of a comic book geared for adult audiences)
