I take Return to Lonesome Dove over Streets any day.

He wrote this angry. He was mad about Return to Lonesome Dove so he made this to get back at Hollywood. I have never watched it based on the fact the he had Pea and Lori get married. Anyone who watches the original Lonesome Dove knows this would not happen. Return is the true sequel in my eyes. It made more sense then this crap.

I have heard that he went back and changed the story to make it impossible for Return to Lonesome Dove to be a canonical part of the story. If that's the case, its ashame we did not get the original version of Streets of Laredo. It may have actually made a lot more sense, he might have originally planned to let Newt live.
