Aphrodite's List of Different Types of Love

In one episode Hercules and Aphrodite are talking about love. Hercules thinks of love as a positive thing and, in reply, Aphrodite starts listing other types of love, types that aren't positive.

Does anyone recall which episode this is from or, better yet, have the quote from Aphrodite?

Noppers. Didn't find any conversation on love. And I can't figure out which other ep it might be in.

Thanks for trying. I can remember the conversation, but can't remember anything else that would give a clue as to which episode it's in.

You're welcome. If you put part of the conversation in a Google search, maybe it will bring up the right episode.

I do not remember the exact episode, either. But what I do recall was that it was regarding Iolius. I think it was when he fell for the mermaid so it was destined to fail. Then Aphrodite was explaining that there were many types of love...angry love, jealous love, etc. I am going off memory but I seem to remember bits and pieces.

Unfortunately, Whoosh doesn't have a transcript of this episode.

That Google search had a transcript for "Love on the Rocks" http://www.springfieldspringfield.co.uk/view_episode_scripts.php?tv-sh ow=hercules-the-legendary-journeys&episode=s05e18 and I read through it, but it's not in this episode.

Glad I'm not the only one who can remember the conversation, but not the episode. (It wasn't the mermaid one, "Love on the Rocks.")

Hopefully, some uber-Herc/Xena fan can recall which episode it's from.

I recall it being Hercules. But after this many years, I'm not making any bets on it. I just know that I loved Aphrodite's answer ---- I get tired of people saying "If someone really loved you, they wouldn't X, Y or Z" as if all love were healthy and positive and good and if it isn't then it isn't love. It tickled me that the writers had the Goddess of Love give a definitive put-down of that concept by talking about negative forms that love can take, but still be love. And, she, as the Goddess of Love, would know.

So I've been trying to find that exact quote, but haven't had any luck.

I think I found it in Xena: Warrior Princess, season 2, episode 16 "For Him the Bell Tolls".

Aphrodite to Cupid (her son):
"Love isn't just about happy endings. There's also jealous love and unrequited love and tragic love. When you strip away all the tinsel, it's just about hormones, isn't it?"

Hope this is what you were looking for!!

Thank you. That must be it. Sorry, to take so long to reply but I just checked this thread again.

I know this is a bit late but I can confirm the conversation happened in Xena s2e16 For Him The Bell Tolls @ 20 minutes into the episode on Netflix. I just watched it and remembered someone asked this question.
BTW, I think Alexandra was THE perfect person for this incarnation of Aphrodite (and she'd probably be perfect for the movie Immortals if she played it a bit more subdued). And after all these years she still looks absolutely fantastic!
I learned a few weeks ago from an interview she did during this year's Xena con that she may return to acting. I hope this is true, I can't wait to see her again- no matter what role it is. If you're a fan of hers, please post to her imdb page and whatever other outlets you know of so she knows she still has fans and support. Let's get this gal acting again!
