Can't understand most of it. . .

I had to stop watching this wonderful series after two episodes of season one. I just couldn't understand a lot of what was happening because of the dialect. Sad. However, I'm also reading the Beaton books and love them!!!

Do you have caption capabilities on your TV? I have found that helps.

I had the same problem when I started, but I found that if I gave a wee bit of effort, tweren't so baffling after a bit. I got used to the dialect, and now it sound just fine.

This series is worth the effort!

You are right! I stuck with it and am now on season three, and sad that it will be ending soon. I love this series. Wycliff was my other favorite taking place in Scotland.

Wycliffe doesn't take place in Scotland but Cornwall ?

English is not my first language, and I had a bit of difficulties with the accent as well during the first couple of episodes, but I got used to it quite quickly, though, so my advice is, that if you like the show, stick with it. You'll get used to the dialect.

The Beaton books are quite good, but the series bears very little resemblance to them. personally I found the series a bit disappointing because it was less a mystery series and more of a soAp opera really.
