That Dick named Andy killed what could have been a great show.

Without a doubt IMHO hollywood's current biggest Ahole, (regular TMZ watchers know this) Andy Dick with his no talent personally killed so early what could
have been a good return of a classic show..

What in God's name possesed Mel Brooks to allow the studio to cast this
digusting piece of hollywood slime for his show?

reply

i'm not so sure Andy Dick was the problem so much as the watered-down writing!

unfortunately, i feel like the series was just starting to do a little better right before it was cancelled.. wish they'd have let it go a few episodes longer, at least, but i guess when you don't start strong, it's hard to get people to come back and give it a second chance...

While I do think Andy Dick neither funny nor talented, the fact that you imply that you are a "regular TMZ watcher" says much about your own tastes. Sorry.

I respect your opinion...Ironically, Andy himself was again on TMZ tonight...
apparently having been arrested for drug possession and the charge of sexual assault ..outside a chicken joint (restaurant) he is alleged to have grabbed
a teenage girl pulled up her shirt and forcibly molested her breasts..
And that leads to my point about TMZ..It shows us the unvarnished, good, bad and ugly of all celebs..unlike the sickening sweet official PR tripe of ET, Access Hollywood and so on...

Just FYI, that girl was a drunk liar. She's a felon and she's after money and attention.
Oh, and that pill they found was an digestive enzyme. Not xanax.
Andy has several witnesses in his defense, who were actually there, and soon the truth will come out.
But I'm sure it will be some obscure retraction...
It's just sad that people can make claims and then TMZ and other trash
shows spread it all over the place, whether it's true or not, and people
eat it up like candy.

Well at the time Andy Dick was a rising star and popular at one point but he has faded and I am surprised that he did not go on Surreal Life because it could have helped his career out a little possibly.

It has Corey Feldman because he did a few more movies after that and now he is doing a show called The Two Corey's on A&E TV.

Andy D. killed Phil Hartman... I hope he rots in hell like his rotten acting/comedy act.

reply

I thought that Phil Hartman was killed by his wife with a bullet to the head while sleeping. I heard she then turned the gun on herself. So, what do you mean that Andy Dick killed Phil Hartman?

reply

Andy Dick was indeed (although indirectly) responsible for Phil Hartman's death. He's the scum who got Hartman's wife, for some time sober, back on cocaine. And then she, while high on Dick's coke, committed that horrible murder-suicide.

reply

Dick got Hartman's recovering wife to start using Coke again. Because of one of her binges, she went off and shot him. Go back and look up the estate facts... they had very little cash despite his work in TV, Movies, and Voice Overs. All of it was going up her nose, Phil confronted her finally and she ends up shooting him. Dick is to blame for all of it... she had been doing well.. the two spent time together at different events and settings and Dick (I guess) didn't want to be the only user and got her back into doing drugs. DIE DICK DIE!

reply

I didn't say that Dick wasn't responsible, only that I heard that Hartman's wife shot him dead. I never heard the story (until now) that Dick got her back onto drugs. It wasn't a defense, only ignorance on my part.

reply

So, we can say it's not Dicks that kill people, it's wifes that kill people...

Hmmm?

It was on fox which for most new shows means a swift death unlss they had ratings good enough to revive the former chief.

I thought Andy Dick did okay in the role...

I gathered he ditched "Get Smart" the moment he got the "Newsradio" job.

The show was raunchy, even by 1995 standards, but it still had the right wit that made the original "Get Smart" work, and to be honest "The Nude Bomb" (being a movie and all) had more objectionable language and material, but not the grab that FOX's revival actually had.

Though I was almost put off by the pilot, the next episode quickly turned things around and I became an avid fan.

"Liver Let Die" is a pretty dark episode as well. Yet *worked*.

A pity only 7 eps were made...
