how did they afford the flat?

why was it matts flat was it ever explained what his job was before he became a recluse?

reply

i think he got a lot of inheritance from his parents... not sure tho :S

reply

His parents died and he had an inheritence to support him, plus he had two rent-incomes

reply

Aye Matt inherited tons of cash and the flat when his parents died, I got the impression his parents were loaded.
If the flat was fully owned and had no mortgage, then the two rent incomes he got from Martin and Mandy would more than cover all the flats expenses (Water, Electricity, Gas etc), then again, only Martin ever seemed to pay him rent.
Mandy owed him thousands at one point in back dated rent, which he kept trying to procure in shags! lol

Yep, he refers to 'selling all his Dad's military s..t'

reply

He used to work in sales, don't know what he used to sell though. Probably some boring desk job.

Add to that the fact that Martin was a 'soft touch' and probably paying more than his and Mandy's fair share of the rent on his own. Matt does have quite a meaty bank balance though, we see that through various episodes where he splashes out on crazy *beep* and has it delivered to the flat, expensive crap to facilitate his latest fad, army gear, surf gear, massive TV's.

His inheritance may not be a cause of his agoraphobia but it aids it seeing as he can get just about anything delivered to his door.

With your feet in the air and your head on the ground, try this sig with spinach!

Matt was loaded and was successful before he got agoraphbia, which started about 6 ,months before the show begins I think.
Also his parents were rich and died leaving it all to him.
Also this is the 90's flats were not as expensive then.
