Are They On DVD???

Is this show on DVD by chance?? I really like this show! I miss it.

The 1st season was released, and a "Best of" was released, but both are no longer in print. It's very doubtful there will ever be a release for the rest of the series.

If you're lucky enough to have a Laff TV affiliate in your area, it's currently airing.

Otherwise, there's no legal alternative.

Why? That's a waste of a show then. I loved it. MiMi was my favorite actress

It all comes down to it just not being popular enough to justify. I think there are some issues with music rights, but I think the suits would find a way if they thought it was good business. The facts are that the show was never extremely popular, and by the end, even the few fans barely wanted to watch it. And ABC basically felt contractually forced to continue it well past when it should have been cancelled.

It aired for years in syndication, but that dropped to nothing. The DVDs sold horribly. The only people that seem to still care are the few that still love it, like me and you.

reply

Probably not.

The music copyrights make it very difficult. I am sure a way could be found to make it happen, but it would cost money, and this show probably wouldn't draw enough to justify it.

Also, lets be honest, out of 9 seasons only the first 4 (arguably 5) are actually any good. Like with a show like Roseanne or Frasier (similar numbers) there is no cost to releasing them so even if the last 4-5 seasons sell poorly it is still worth it. You can't really say that with Drew Carey.

It is sad as seasons 2-4 were great.

I should also point out that with a good VPN you can get all the Drew Carey you want anytime.

True I never got to watch the full seasons. I loved Mimi and the boss forgot his name. Kate was funny but Ryan Stiles IMO made the show hilarious

reply

That is how a lot of people felt, myself included.

So by season 5 or 6 (someone will have to confirm the exact dates) Kate and Mr. Wick were gone and Mimi didn't have makeup.

Ryan Stiles was still gold but the rest was garbage.

I also think of Drew Carey as such a 90's celebrity. Like him, Tim Allen, and Courteney Cox are the trio that are forever in the 1990's. I am not sure how well this has aged, but Home Improvement is unwatchable now.

I wonder if websites third party websites have all the shows on video. I'd love to watch it again. I agree I do think Courtney Cox and Tim Allen and Drew Carey are 90s favorites. IMO I liked Home Improvement. I prefer old shows from the 70s-90s same with the movies. I love nostalgia feel. Just an opinion though. Hope they come to there senses and release the shows.

Even sales of Season 1 DVD were horrible. Unless the popularity were to suddenly shift, the best we can hope for is reruns on networks like Laff.

Watch32.com has the series, but the episodes of S2 all seem to be missing the last 90 seconds. Decent quality though.

There IS a torrent with all the seasons taken off of TV. A few episodes are rough (like someone's old VCR tape, which is where I think they were taken from) but 95% are 90's TV quality, and they are available. Depending on where you are this may be illegal though.

It was the songs they used during the entire series. They didn't get permission. In order to put out the dvds, they would have to cut a lot out. Which would be useless to watch a 15 min show after all the cuts. It has nothing to do with popularity. The first season was the only one where they didn't steal music for the show. Hints why the first season was put out. And then ultimately trashed after they couldn't release the rest.

reply

If you have the Laff channel just record the episodes on your DVR.

reply

Laff is showing episodes but out of order.
